Frequently Asked Questions
What is SWANCON?
SWANCON is a speculative fiction convention which includes panels, special guests, book launches, board (tabletop games) and video gaming, an awards and art show, a Masquerade, and a whole lot more.

Concession tickets are $190, standard tickets are $260. Day tickets will be available at the door.

The next SWANCON will occur over Easter from Thursday 24th to Monday 28th of March, 2016.
Can I come if I am under 18?
Of course you can! If you are 12 and under, you must be accompanied by a responsible guardian at all times, but we have panels and games just for you! (You also get in for free).
If you are 13-17, you also require your guardian’s consent. Come and try out the gaming, or visit a panel on how to get your book/script/game published.

What do volunteers receive?
Our love and adoration! You also get to have an impact on what happens at SWANCON. So come and make a difference! Whatever you want to help with, we have a spot for you. For more information, email volunteers-2016@swancon.com.au
Are there other events during the year?
Yes, we run movie screenings (discounts for members) and usually have a quiz night at least once a year. You can also see SWANCON members at other conventions, so come say hi!
Is SWANCON accessible?
It is one of our main goals as part of the SWANCON community to make the con-going experience open and enjoyable to everyone. Accessible pathways, suitable chair positions in panels and large print programs have been employed in previous conventions. We are currently looking into unisex toilets and text to speech capabilities for our programming. Making SWANCON accessible is an ongoing process and if you have any suggestions or queries we would love to hear them. Please email secretary-2016@swancon.com.au for more information.
Will I get to meet the guests?
Yes! We have free guest signings, a guest dinner, panels with discussions and questions from the audience, and coffee meetups.
What is the Masquerade?
Every year SWANCON has a giant dance party. Some people dress up, there is a costume parade and a disco. Even the younger members get to shine with a Children’s Masquerade in the afternoon.
Costume is not compulsory, but can be fun.
Masquerade only tickets will be available.
