Hello SWANCON goers!

It is now only two months away from the con, and we are busy getting everything sorted so you can have a lovely time!

Here is a summary of this email:
-You can be on a panel.
-You can enter a short story competition with our partners, Contact 2016 (this year’s NatCon).
-You can tell your friends about SWANCON.

Message from the Programmer

My great quest for panellists continues (round 3)
Today we are seeking people for the following program items:
- Apocalypse Preparation (Needs 1 more panellist)
- Comics based on film & TV (Needs 1 more panellist)
- Not Quite Genre, but Fandom (Needs 2 more panellists) — things SF fans fan-over that are not actually SF.
The full list is still online for you to peruse, vote on, and volunteer for nearly anything.

You can see it all here.

Short Story Competition

Contact2016 are proud to invite entries to the Natcon 55 amateur short story competition, sponsored by Australian Science Fiction Foundation! Since 1992 the Australian Science Fiction Foundation (ASFF) has provided sponsorship funds to the Australian National Science Fiction Convention (The Natcon) to run an Amateur SF competition. We are pleased to announce the Contact2016 competition, with cash prizes going to adult and junior winners, along with publication in the conbook.

Theme: Close Contact
Is it a close encounter? A missed connection? A deflected asteroid? A cultural misunderstanding?
Riff on the theme and surprise us with your best speculative fiction story.
