It is just over three weeks until the convention and we have quite a few pieces of exciting news for you to look at!
- The draft program has been released, you can have a look here.
- The annual Guest of Honour dinner is on Wednesday 23rd March. You can buy tickets for $65 at the store.
- The Tin Duck ballot is out for 2016. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to vote.
- The theme for this years Masquerade is Re-Imaginings.
- General business
The great day is upon us, the program goes public now.
Welcome to Phase III of programming.
This is the first open release of the program, and the 5th draft.
There will be 3 major releases of the program before the Con.
This is the first of those.
The second will be around Monday the 14th March.
The Third and Final release will be Monday the 21st.
The full program PDF can be downloaded from here.
If there are any issues, or mistakes, please get back to me ASAP (in particular, prior to 11:59pm 11/3/16)
Panels coloured Red, could do with some more panellists,
Panels coloured Green, would benefit from a moderator.
Panels coloured Orange could do with both.
In all cases though, these are panels that will likely run even if they don’t get more people.
(These colours will not be in the final program)
Let me know if you would like to be involved with any of them.
If you see another panel you would really like to be on (but didn’t hear about before).
Let me know, if it only has 3 people, depending on subject a forth might be appropriate, otherwise, its good to have people in reserve.
Feedback on the program should be sent to me, at email@example.com
Please use the keyword “SC2016Program5” in the subject line.
Feedback on the Code of Conduct, Accessibility Policy, or Anti-Harassment Policy should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org not to me. I am just the programmer.
I’ld love to hear suggested better titles, descriptions etc.
I don’t mine hearing about clashes of interest, eg if all the time-travel panels are on at the same time; but panellists availabilities may have already stymied me to change it. I’m also interested in what you think of the layout. This conbook was automatically generated from the data exported out of livecon. There is a good chance program books will look like this next year and going forward.
See you at the con
Guest of Honour Dinner
SWANCON 2016’s Guest of Honour dinner is open for bookings! The guest dinner is a chance to meet Jane Espenson, Lian Hearn, Fe Waters, and Michael O’Brien (for those who haven’t already) in person in a relaxed, timely setting before the con over a good meal.
The venue this year is cafe Bellavista, an Italian restaurant in East Perth. SWANCON has booked a private function room for the event, and your ticket will get you a 3-course meal for $65 (though drinks are extra and readily available from the bar). Vegetarian and Gluten Free options are available, and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
Date: Wednesday 23rd March
Time: 7:00 pm
Venue: Cafe Bellavista, 150 Bennett St, East Perth
Bookings can be made via our website here. Ticket orders close on Monday 21st March at 4pm.
Hope to see you all there!
Secretary, SWANCON 2016

Our theme for this years Masquerade is Re-Imaginings. Whether you choose to interpret that as a reboot, and alternate reality or a mashup is up to you!
As we are only three weeks away from the convention, now is the time to start making your costume! Our guests of honour judge the best outfit and there are prizes to be won.
Tickets for the Masquerade are $20 (or free for Saturday day members and full convention members).
If you would like to help out with the Masquerade or anything else at the convention, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
If you would like to volunteer, please email email@example.com or click ‘Going’ on this Facebook event.
Thankyou to everyone who has already volunteered! You are the people that make this convention possible.
Congratulations on making it to the end of this email! Convention is only three weeks away, see you all then!
